My name is Eliška Štěpová, also known as Vesmírná Eliss. I was born in Hradec Králové and currently live in Prague.
I originally studied pre-school and after-school education and worked in public schools and art-focused programs. After several years of effort, I was accepted to art school, where I studied drawing and illustration. I completed my studies with a graduation thesis in the form of an original author’s comic book Understate.
Following my studies, I began working professionally as a graphic designer and illustrator. I spent several years in a male-dominated sports marketing company, where I developed strong skills in typesetting, layout preparation for books and magazines, social media templates, brand identity design, and merchandising for sports fanshops. This experience strengthened my work discipline, responsibility, and technical precision.
Alongside commercial design work, my main passion has always been drawing and painting. I have created book illustrations, prints, labels, and author comics. I regularly participate in Czech and international comic festivals, including Festival KOMA and Krakowski festiwal komiksów.
In 2023, I received a scholarship for a drawing class at the 27th International Dresden Summer Academy of Fine Arts, which concluded with two group exhibitions. Last year, I had the opportunity to attend my first artist residency in Prisma.lx, Lisbon. For the very first time, I could fully focus on my own artistic development — without external constraints. That experience confirmed my desire to continue growing as an independent artist and to search for environments that allow experimentation, reflection, and deeper exploration of my ideas.
My artistic focus lies primarily in anatomy drawing, storyboarding and comics, occasionally combined with different techniques. Humor and directness are essential elements of my work — I aim to create clear, accessible stories that allow viewers to briefly escape everyday worries and simply enjoy the experience.
Although my work is artistic in nature, I value practical skills and do not distance myself from ordinary, blue-collar work. I consider reliability, responsibility, and technical proficiency essential foundations for my future artistic and professional path.
